Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Last year a very dear friend and co-worker was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was always busy doing things for everyone around her, and in doing so, she neglected her own needs, like her annual mammogram. So when she received this devastating news, I felt I had to do something to help. I became actively involved with the annual Making Strides Walk in a nearby town.
image
This year, I have taken it further by forming a team within my company to show our support for all our friends, families and co-workers who have had to struggle and fight this disease. My company has approved it as an annual fund raiser and we will walk to help build a future where breast cancer no longer threatens those we love.

Best Advice

If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away.
If he doesn't want you, nothing can make him stay.
Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior.
Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache.
Stop trying to change yourselves for a relationship that's not meant
to be.
Slower is better.
Never live your life for a man before you find what makes you truly
happy.
If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you as you
deserve then heck no, you can't "be friends." A friend wouldn't mistreat a friend.
Don't settle. If you feel like he is stringing you along, then he
probably is.
Don't stay because you think "it will get better." You'll be mad at
yourself a year later for staying when things are not better.
The only person you can control in a relationship is you.
Avoid men who've got a bunch of children by a bunch of different
women. He didn't marry them when he got them pregnant,
Why would he treat you any differently?
Always have your own set of friends separate from his.
Maintain boundaries in how a guy treats you.
If something bothers you, speak up.
Never let a man know everything. He will use it against you later.
You cannot change a man's behavior. Change comes from within.
Don't EVER make him feel he is more important than you are...even if
he has more education or in a better job. Do not make him into a quasi-god. He is a man, nothing more nothing less.
Never let a man define who you are.
Never borrow someone else's man.
Oh Lord! If he cheated with you, he'll cheat on you.
A man will only treat you the way you ALLOW him to treat you.
All men are NOT dogs.
You should not be the one doing all the bending...compromise is a
two-way street.
You need time to heal between relationships...there is nothing cute
about baggage... deal with your issues before pursuing a new relationship
You should never look for someone to COMPLETE you...a relationship
consists of two WHOLE individuals...look for someone complimentary...not supplementary.
Dating is fun...even if he doesn't turn out to be Mr.. Right.
Make him miss you sometimes...when a man always know where you are,
and your always readily available to him- he takes it for granted.
Don't fully commit to a man who doesn't give you everything that you
need. Keep him in your radar but get to know others.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them and an entire lifetime to forget them.

The Worth of a Woman

Before I was a Mom
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her
down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't
stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom -
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important
and happy.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to
make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache,
the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.

One Flaw In Women

(you will see what it is in the end)

Women have strengths that amaze men.
They bear hardships and they carry burdens,

but they hold happiness, love and joy.

They smile when they want to scream.

They sing when they want to cry.

They cry when they are happy

and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.

They stand up to injustice.

They don't take 'no' for an answer

when they believe there is a better solution.

They go without so their family can have.

They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.

They cry when their children excel

and cheer when their friends get awards.

They are happy when they hear about

a birth or a wedding.

Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They grieve at the loss of a family member,

yet they are strong when they

think there is no strength left.

They know that a hug and a kiss

can heal a broken heart.

Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you

to show how much they care about you.

The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning.

They bring joy, hope and love.

They have the compassion and ideas.

They give moral support to their
family and friends.

Women have vital things to say

and everything to give.

HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN,
IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH

HOORAY FOR ANDY

CBS DIDN'T STOP HIM...THIS IS GREAT!
Good for him!!!
Surprised CBS let him get away with this even though he's right

Andy Rooney said on '60 Minutes' a few weeks back:
I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything
except numbers.. The only things I can think of that are truly
discriminatory are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine,
Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have
things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White
Entertainment Television, or Miss W hite America; and see what
happens...Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.
Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a
killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is
trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.
I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason, which is
why there are no girls allowed. Girls belong in the Girl Scouts!
ARE YOU LISTENING MARTHA BURKE ?
I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a
phobia, it is an opinion.
I have the right 'NOT' to be tolerant of others because they
are different, weird, or tick me off.
When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities
where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling; it is
the Law of Probability.
I believe that if you are selling me a milkshake, a pack of
cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a
matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to
speak English!
My father and grandfather didn't die in vain so you can leave
the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours.
I think the police should have every right to shoot you if you
threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can't understand the
word 'freeze' or 'stop' in English, see the above lines.
I don't think just because you were not born in this country,
you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored
bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop,
trinket store, or any other business.
We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk
our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they
could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document;
and open totheir interpretations.
I don't hate the rich; I don't pity the poor
I know pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television.
That doesn't stop you from watching them.
I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made
and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the
next operating system that's better, and put your name on the
building.
It doesn't take a whole village to raise a child right, but it
does take a parent to stand up to the kid; and smack their little behinds
when necessary, and say 'NO!'
I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but
please don't pretend they are a political statement. And, please, stay home
until that new lip ring heals. I don't want to look at your ugly
infected mouth as you serve me French fries!
I am sick of 'Political Correctness.' I know a lot of black
people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa ; so how can they
be 'African-Americans'? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go
around saying I am a European-Ame rican because my great, great,
great, great, great, great grandfather was = from Europe. I am proud to be
from America and nowhere else
And if you don't like my point of view, tough..
